Wind Energy and Turtles – Turkey

Investing in renewable energy and turtle conservation in Turkey.

Through the World Care Fund, we are providing wind power to Turkey. The Belen 30MW wind farm, situated in South-Eastern Turkey, provides around 95,000,000kWh of renewable electricity to the Turkish grid every year – that’s enough electricity for almost 30,000 UK homes. It is also creating jobs in the area. The Mazi windfarm, close to the resort of Bodrum, is expected to produce 118,500MWh of electricity every year.

We’re also raising awareness about turtle nesting on Turkey’s beaches in our holiday spots. By training hoteliers, guides and tourists, we’ve helped protect the hatchlings on the beaches, helping this endangered species.
